The 2 rooms share the use of a bathroom with a bath and a toilet. Located downstairs, are 2 more rooms that are furnished with double beds, and these rooms share the use of a bathroom with a bath and a shower, and a separate toilet. Towels and linen are provided but guests please need to bring their own swimming towels.
The open-plan kitchen is fully equipped and offers a fridge-freezer, a microwave, a stove with oven, pots and pans, cutlery and crockery as well as a breakfast bar. The living area is equipped with a TV with a full selection of DStv channels and has a cosy indoor braai for the chilly winter nights. Free Wi-Fi is available. The house has an inverter for assistance during loadshedding. An outdoor braai area is located on the wooden deck, which overlooks the dam. There is a wooden jungly gym with a slide and swings next to the cottage. Firewood is provided. A cleaning service can be arranged on request.
A variety of game such as springbok, zebra, lechwe, waterbuck and ostrich can be seen and they frequently visit the cottage. Guests will also be able to see a variety of birds such as Egyptian geese, spur-winged goose, South African shelduck, yellowbilled stork, African Darter, and the chimney bird. The farm offers activities such as rowing, angling and swimming as well as walking, and cycling routes; guests needs to bring their own bicycles.

The most beautiful stone cottage next to a beautiful pond, warm hospitality and freshly baked scones to welcome us - everything contributed to make it an unforgettable weekend away.
We had a really nice stay. Very nice surroundings with a nice braai area, inside and outside. We traveled with our dogs and don't care how well you think your dogs are trained. We didn't want to take the chance of taking the dogs off the leashes because there are goats running around everywhere. If the area around the house had a small fence, it would have been ideal for an overnight stay with dogs. I would recommend it to anyone. It was really nice, clean, tidy, with everything we needed.
Great stay! Beautiful surroundings and everything nice and clean in the house. We were 7 adults and the place is a bit tight for that because 6 people have to stay upstairs and with the plank floors, sounds are audible everywhere.

Great! The only thing we might have needed was a heads up about the little miggie bugs/mozzies. Maybe suggest to guests in future to close the windows and doors before it gets dark. Other than that, it was lovely!
The location was great being in nature but a bit far away from any shops so make sure you bring what you need. . The house itself was nice and the inverter worked great keeping the internet and tv on. . Only thing was that the house could have been a bit cleaner and the kitchen needs an update. . Overall a good stay the host was super nice and even brought us scones as a treat so 5/5 for customer service.
Beautiful place! Neat, clean and ideal for children or if you are traveling with a pet. Just remember that it is fully self-catering, so pack your own coffee, sugar, ice etc. The indoor braai was a winner with plenty of wood available. The owner even helped us with a bag of ice (as I had forgotten about it). During loadshedding, we had 2 lights and a fire for entertainment, but no TV, WiFi or other lights. The stove is also electric, so just bring some meat for the braai. I did understand that an inverter will be installed one of these days which can solve this problem. Overall we had a very nice stay.

Hermanus Cottage is next to a pond with the loveliest bird life and at night the darkness and silence envelop you. Just what is needed away from the hectic city life. I have to mention the incredible service from Cherie! She communicated regularly and kept us updated on load shedding. Upon our arrival we were given delicious, freshly baked butter sandwiches. Unbelievable!

Lovely getaway. So quiet and comfortable. I would recommend some fly traps or screens on the windows as there was a huge amount of flies.
Cute cottage next to the dam. Nice, fresh, baked muffins upon our arrival. We had a great time sitting on the deck and visiting. Owners are very helpful.
If it rains a lot, the road is difficult with a normal vehicle, but they will come and drag you out.
It was a nice getaway weekend out of the city, but the house was too small for the number of guests advertised. The lower floor had nice space, but the loft area was just too cramped for the amount of beds. There is also no real privacy for the people staying in the loft area, you hear everything through the floor in the rooms below.
I am out of words. This was the most incredible stay. The host made us feel welcome from the moment we arrived. The cottage was beautiful and clean, and it had everything we needed for the weekend. We loved the privacy, and the canoeing was a big bonus. Very relaxing getaway. We will hopefully be returning soon.
What more can one say, the cottage visit was a winner for sure, and will definitely visit again. Everything in and around the cottage was clean, tidy and in its place. There is a nice view of the dam with various birds and wildlife on and around it. It's definitely a place where you can recharge and recommend the place to anyone.

The cottage is fully equipped. Wood is provided. We were received very kindly. The canoes were a hit and the 2 dogs were dead tired playing in the evening.

We were very kindly received by the owner (Cherie) herself with freshly baked farm scones, who went out of her way to ensure our comfort. The cottage is very comfortable and spacious, with beautiful views of the pond, wildlife walking around the house and the silence that can only be experienced in the forest. The cottage was neat and clean with braai facilities inside and outside. Definitely worth every penny!
What an incredibly beautiful place. We immediately felt at home. We were welcomed with delicious warm scones, fresh from the oven. The house is beautiful, we are provided with enough wood for both barbecue and for the fireplace. The boys really enjoyed paddling the canoes. We could only be calm. We will definitely stay there again.
We stayed there for the week with my son's sports which took place in Kroonstad during Bokkie Week. The accommodation was comfortable and really very neat. Cherie is very friendly and hospitable and feels as if you have been friends for years. Home away from home. We will definitely use this accommodation again in the future.

Beautiful sunrise and sunset, wonderful rowing on the dam with the boats, picnic held on the island, wildlife viewing that grazes right near the house, very friendly and helpful owners and staff. The cottage is very neat and clean with great future potential to further expand the charm.
Hermanus Cottage is a truly beautiful place to spend the night. The road was a challenge, but it's a provincial road over which the hosts had no control and on top of that it was raining a lot. The accommodation is very well equipped and very good value for money.
Hospitality. Go the extra mile. Directions clear and easy to get there. House is neat, clean and practical with everything and more that is needed. WiFi available, but actually it has to turn off so he can cut off totally, but had to work so it helped a lot. Very safe. Very nice in nature. The cottage has everything you need and more! We had so much fun canoeing on the dam, walking, watching birds and resting. Cherie and her husband went out of their way to make sure we had the best visit! They were wonderful hosts. We will definitely be back!

We enjoyed it so much we got very friendly service, there was already wood for us and for us it was the best that our dogs could be together! We will go again for sure.

Our stay at Hermanus was a beautiful experience. Game was close by. The huge fireplace was the best. The hostess was helpful, friendly, warm and made you feel so welcome. This was my first time away from home and it was a wonderful experience. I will definitely go back if I have the opportunity.
The ideal place to get away with friends for the weekend. Nice braai area, DStv, canoes and comfortable beds.
The host Cherie was wonderful, quick responses, and happy to help when we forgot a few key items for the kitchen. The setting is beautiful. We got to paddle out in the canoes provided and watch the game from the middle of the dam. We particularly enjoyed the outside braai and dining area under the vines, spending most of the day and evening there.
The unit is suitable for 3 couples, or 2 couples with children because the upper room contains single beds, 2 of which are in a private room. We had a really nice stay and had everything we wanted at our disposal. The hostess is very friendly and even treated us to scones on our arrival.
My dog boys and I enjoyed the space and pond so much. Feeling safe. All you need. And the hospitality and helpfulness was something to write home about. The dirt road was a big challenge for an ordinary car with all the rain, some places were almost stuck in mud. We are definitely going back (in the non-rainy season, lol) - recommend for groups and singles. The WiFi was obviously a big reason why we went there originally - being able to work and still feel like vacation.
If you have to spend the night in Kroonstad I suggest going to Hermanus Cottage. It's a bit out of the ordinary but definitely worth the effort. We enjoyed it a lot.
Despite the rain, we had a great weekend. The view over the dam, the wildlife that roams nearby, the comfortable and tidy house and the braai places all contributed to a wonderful weekend. The very well equipped kitchen, the welcome muffins and the braai wood all contributed to make our weekend a highlight. Don't know which of us or our four-legged child enjoyed it the most!
The hostess was very hospitable and the dam area is idyllic.
Gul received by hostess with snacks. Everything is nice but the bugs and moths are a problem when it gets dark but it is a natural problem that the owners can't do anything about and you can live with it. Like all thatched roofs a bit hot and stuffy in the summer especially in the bedrooms on the upper level right under the roof where the hot air rises and is trapped. A strong fan or two at that level can help. However, it is still good and excellent accommodation there next to the big dam with the many antelopes and can be recommended.
We really enjoyed the time at Hermanus Cottage. Peaceful and good for one's soul. Cherie is so hospitable and a wonderful person. You will definitely see us again.
Hermanus Cottage was ideally located close to the site where I did contract work. The silence and tranquility of the environment with wildlife and birds around the water made me relax wonderfully. Friendly and helpful people responded promptly to requests when I inquired. The Cottage is well equipped for self-catering. I would not hesitate to recommend it.

It's beautiful and peaceful. The fireplace/indoor barbecue helped a lot to take the pinch out of the cold. The variety of wild animals was an absolute treat and the lion farms in the area also took our breath away. I recommend Hermanus Cottage to any person.

If you want to get away from the hectic city life, this is definitely the place to recharge. Very peaceful farm environment with many species of birds and goats that visit the cottage, especially early in the morning and in the evening when the sun goes down.

Words cannot describe how serene and beautiful this place is. The cottage is well equipped and if you get tired of rowing and swimming in the dam, you can enjoy some drinks on the deck while watching the sunrise and animals. Our hostess was so friendly and welcoming, she even let us check out very late. There was free WiFi and a full DStv package. What more can you want? What an unforgettable place to stay in to kick off 2019!

The perfect getaway for families and small groups. The boys kept entertained in the dam and the adults enjoyed preparing food in the fully equipped kitchen before an evening of games around the breakfast bar. One point to note is to bring all food supplies with you to avoid having to waste time popping off to the shop! Cherie welcomed us so warmly, briefed us thoroughly on everything and came to check all was okay before we left. Great hostess. The wildlife that runs around the house is a great asset. You don't have to get into a car at all to see wildlife. All the amenities are there to make your stay go smoothly. One thing that caught us was the couches in the living room. It is very beautiful and we like such furniture, but it is not very comfortable to relax on. The shower is also leaking water, might just have to look into that. Other than that, everything was number one.

Is very peaceful with lots of bird life and the right place to just come and unwind and relax. Also really enjoy the antelopes that roam around there. It would be good if more fish could be placed in the pond for the people who want to come and fish. Would love to go back again if there are more fish in the pond. But for people who don't fish and just want to come and enjoy the relaxing nature I would highly recommend it. The accommodation is clean and very tidy and provides all needs.
